Job Description

Athona Education is working with a school in a lovely, residential area of London, which is seeking a part time Music teacher to start in September.

This is a brilliant music teaching opportunity and a chance to take on a role and make it your own and to join a successful team in a great school.

The School:

This is a three form entry school in North West London, located in a residential area and well served by public transport, with staff parking available. The school is led by an established Headteacher who has been at the school for many years. She has a strong senior leadership team to support her with her aim to raise what are already very high standards.

Behaviour at the school is good, with a lot of support from home and the school has a traditional but creative atmosphere. The school has a large playground and playing field. Educational standards at the school are very high.

You will be joining a dedicated teaching team at the school and will become an integral member of the school community.

The Role:

The school is seeking a Music teacher on a part time basis of 4 days per week, possibly 3 days per week, which will be ideal if you have additional commitments outside of school.

You will be responsible for the teaching of Music throughout the school and will be teaching whole classes, teaching singing, percussion and some musical theory. You will be responsible for leading whole school singing in assembly, as well as coordinating the Year 6 end of year production.

Schemes of work are in place, which you will be able to adapt.

If you are a Music teacher, this will be a wonderful opportunity to work in a primary school and you will have the autonomy to make the role your own.

Applicant Requirements:

The school is seeking a qualified teacher with QTS, who has experience of teaching whole class Music. Unfortunately, the school will not be able to consider teachers who do not have whole class Music teaching experience. This teaching experience will ideally have been in a primary school, although the school will consider secondary experienced Music teachers. You will be taking classes on your own, so will need to have good classroom management and will soon become familiar with each class. You should have a fun and engaging style of teaching.

It is essential that you are a competent piano player and have good musical knowledge to be able to inspire and encourage children to take part. You must also have the confidence to be able to lead whole school singing assembly!

This will be a brilliant opportunity to work in a school as a Music teacher and there may be the chance of a handover with the present Music teacher for a few weeks in July.
