Bristol (with travel across the South West)

£50,000 - £65,000 per annum + performance bonus

A leading provider of industrial doors, roller shutters, and automated access solutions in the Bristol and South West region.

About the Role

We are expanding our access control and automation division and are looking for an experienced and technically strong Access Control Systems Manager to drive growth in this high-potential area.

You will be the key technical and commercial lead responsible for developing the access control side of our industrial and automated door business. This is a hands-on role combining technical expertise, client relationship building, solution design, and project delivery - with significant scope to grow revenue and build a thriving new revenue stream for the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • -Identify and engage new and existing clients in facilities management, building management, manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, and commercial property sectors across Bristol and the South West.
  • Conduct site surveys and needs analysis to understand client requirements for access control on automated and industrial doors (roller shutters, sectional doors, high-speed doors, loading bays, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities to sell maintenance contracts within this market and upsell and cross-sell related products (e.g., high-speed doors, safety systems,).
  • Specify appropriate access control equipment - including card readers, keypads, biometric systems, intercoms, remote controls, relays, and integration with door operators/motors
  • Specify seamless integration of access control systems with customers' existing site infrastructure (BMS, security systems, fire alarms, CCTV, PLCs, and building networks).
  • Prepare accurate technical proposals, specifications, and cost estimates for supply, installation, and commissioning.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle from initial enquiry through to successful delivery, handover, and aftercare - coordinating with in-house/sub contract installation and service teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and specifiers to generate repeat business and referrals.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell related products (e.g., high-speed doors, safety systems, maintenance contracts).
  • Play a key role in growing this side of the business - developing strategy, processes, supplier relationships, and sales pipelines to establish access control as a core profitable division.

Essential Skills and Experience

Strong technical understanding of access control technology as applied to automated and industrial doors (roller shutter integration, momentary/latching relays, safety inputs, door operator controls, etc.).

Proven experience specifying and integrating access control systems (e.g., Paxton, TDSi, HID, or similar) with industrial door operators and building management systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and site layouts.

Commercial awareness with experience in preparing quotations, estimating costs, and negotiating with clients.

Track record of successfully delivering technical projects from specification through to completion.

Excellent communication and presentation skills - able to explain complex technical solutions clearly to facilities managers, building services engineers, and decision-makers.

Self-motivated with a proactive approach to business development and client acquisition.

Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

Previous experience in the industrial doors, roller shutters, automatic doors, or security systems sector.

Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (e.g., BS EN standards for doors and access control, health & safety, fire integration).

Existing network of contacts within facilities management or building services in the South West.

What We Offer

Competitive salary £50,000 - £65,000 depending on experience and proven ability.

Attractive performance-based bonus (uncapped or tiered, linked to revenue and margin growth).

Company vehicle or car allowance.

Real opportunity to shape and grow a new business area with direct impact on company success.

Support from an established industrial door company with strong local reputation and workshop/installation capability.
