Job Description

“Knowledge is a treasure, but practice is the key to it.” Thomas Fuller.

Sheridan Maine is delighted to be partnering with a leading accountancy practice to recruit an Accounts Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant to step into a senior, client-facing role where you will manage a diverse portfolio of rural business clients.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of accounts and tax work—delivering, reviewing, and signing off reports to ensure top technical accuracy. You’ll also act as a trusted adviser to clients, proactively adding value and collaborating with specialists across the business to meet their needs.

This position is best suited to an individual who is passionate about delivering the highest service levels to a portfolio of rural clients, while also enjoying the opportunity to mentor others and help shape the future of the team.

Key responsibilities of the Accounts Manager include:

- Oversee and sign off on accounts and tax work, ensuring high technical standards.
- Work closely with senior advisers to support a diverse range of rural clients.
- Identify opportunities to add value for clients and the wider business.
- Collaborate with internal specialists to offer holistic client support.
- Coach and mentor junior team members.
- Contribute ideas and improvements to help shape the future of the team.

The successful Accounts Manager will require:

- Strong background in an accounting practice.
- Fully Qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA).
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver high-quality service.
- Confident in reviewing and approving complex accounts and tax documents.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a collaborative approach.
- Passionate about developing others and sharing knowledge.

What’s on Offer:

- Supportive firm that actively encourages career development.
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
- Hybrid working model (3 days office-based).
- Generous holiday allowance + extra day off for your birthday.
- Opportunity to work with a valued portfolio of rural clients in a trusted, client-facing role.

If you’re passionate about this opportunity or keen to hear more, please click “apply” and one of our Sheridan Maine consultants will be in touch.

You are required to be eligible to work in the UK full time without restriction.

Due to the high volume of applications, it is not always possible to respond to unsuccessful applicants. Therefore, if we have not responded to your application within five days, please assume that on this occasion your application has not been successful.
