Catering Assistant – School (Ongoing Temp)

About the Role:

We are currently looking for enthusiastic and reliable Catering Assistants to join our team, supporting local schools in Torquay on a temporary ongoing basis.

Monday-Friday 7am-2:30pm (Term time only).

This is a rewarding role ideal for someone with a passion for food service and who enjoys working in a structured, child-friendly environment. You’ll be a key part of the catering team, helping to prepare and serve nutritious meals to pupils and staff, while ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and service of school meals

• Ensure food is presented and served in line with school standards

• Support with cleaning duties in the kitchen and dining areas

• Maintain hygiene standards and follow health & safety protocols

• Work closely with the catering supervisor and school staff

• Help set up dining areas before and after meal service

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a kitchen, canteen, or school catering setting is desirable

• Able to work Monday-Friday 7am-2:30pm (Term time only)

• Good understanding of basic food hygiene practices

• A positive attitude and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Reliability and punctuality

• Flexibility to work short-term or long-term assignments as needed

• Full and in date UK Driving licence
