Counterbalance Forklift & Warehouse OperativeLeith, Edinburgh £14.00 per hour | Weekly Pay | 6-Month Temporary Contract | Potential for Extension or Permanent Opportunity Manpower Scotland is recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing client based in Leith, Edinburgh for a Counterbalance Forklift & Warehouse Operative. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected and long-standing employer within a busy warehouse and logistics operation.
Initially offered as a 6-month temporary contract, there is potential for the role to be extended or become permanent depending on business requirements and individual performance. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied role, combining forklift operation with hands-on warehouse duties in a fast-paced environment.
Working Hours & Pay Training Period:
- Monday to Friday
- Standard day shift hours
Following Training:
- Rotating weekly shifts
- Week 1: 06:00am - 2:00pm
- Week 2: 2:00pm - 10:00pm
Pay Rate:
- £14.00 per hour
- Weekly pay
The Role This is a mixed role involving both Counterbalance Forklift Truck operation and general warehouse duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the efficient movement, storage, and dispatch of products throughout the site. Key responsibilities include:
- Loading and unloading vehicles using a Counterbalance Forklift Truck.
- Moving stock safely and efficiently throughout the warehouse and production areas.
- Picking and packing orders accurately.
- Wrapping and preparing pallets for storage and dispatch.
- Carrying out stock movements and inventory checks.
- Using handheld scanners and tablets to track stock and update warehouse systems.
- Ensuring products are stored correctly and stock locations are maintained.
- Supporting goods-in and goods-out activities.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe warehouse environment.
- Assisting with general warehouse and operational duties as required.
About You The successful candidate will be:
- A certified and experienced Counterbalance Forklift Truck operator.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on and physically demanding role.
- Reliable, hardworking, and capable of working using their own initiative.
- A strong team player with a positive attitude.
- Organised and detail-focused when handling stock and warehouse documentation.
- Comfortable using scanners, tablets, and warehouse management systems.
This role involves regular manual handling and lifting throughout the working day, with items typically ranging between 10kg and 25kg. Candidates should therefore be physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual duties on a daily basis.
Essential Skills & Experience- Valid and certified Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence.
- Previous experience operating a Counterbalance Forklift within a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
- Experience with picking, packing, palletising, and stock control activities.
- Comfortable using scanners, tablets, and digital stock tracking systems.
- Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills- Experience working within food manufacturing or FMCG environments.
- Previous warehouse inventory or stock control experience.
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems.
- Experience working rotating shift patterns.
