Secondary Cover Supervisor – Portsmouth

Location: Portsmouth
Hours: 8:00am – 3:30pm
Pay: £90 – £130 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Contract: Full-time, long-term with potential to become permanent

Supply Desk is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Portsmouth to recruit a full-time Cover Supervisor to start as soon as possible. This is a long-term opportunity with the potential for a permanent contract for the right candidate.

The Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will support the school by delivering pre-prepared lessons across a variety of subjects, including Maths, History, and Geography at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. While you won’t be required to plan or mark work, you will be responsible for ensuring that students remain on task and engaged during the absence of their usual teacher.

This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with recent experience working in secondary education. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to different subjects and student needs are essential.

We’re Looking For Candidates Who:

• Are enthusiastic, reliable, and confident in managing classroom behaviour

• Have a degree and ideally some recent experience working in education or with young people

• Are comfortable working across a range of subjects

• Hold a valid, enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)

• Are open to working in schools with varied behavioural challenges
