Director – Electrical Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Director – Electrical Engineering to lead the electrical design function within a multidisciplinary building services consultancy operating across the UK. This senior leadership role is ideal for a highly accomplished engineer with a strong track record in managing teams, delivering complex projects, and shaping business strategy.

As Director – Electrical Engineering, you will be responsible for setting the technical vision for electrical design, driving innovation, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, sustainable solutions across all projects.

The role

The Director – Electrical Engineering will oversee electrical engineering teams, providing leadership, mentoring, and strategic direction. You will work closely with clients, directors of other disciplines, and senior project teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, sustainably, and to the highest standards.

You will also play a key role in business development, client relationships, and operational planning for the electrical engineering function.

Key responsibilities

- Lead and manage the electrical engineering team across multiple projects
- Set technical strategy and ensure high standards of design and delivery
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships and support business growth
- Oversee design reviews, calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings
- Ensure compliance with UK standards, regulations, and sustainable design targets
- Mentor senior and junior engineers, supporting career development
- Contribute to operational planning, fee management, and project resourcing
- Represent the consultancy at industry events, forums, and client meetings
- Promote innovation and best practice in low carbon and sustainable design

About you

To be successful as Director – Electrical Engineering, you will have extensive experience leading electrical engineering within a consultancy environment and a proven ability to manage senior teams.

You will bring:

- A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Chartered status with significant consultancy experience
- Strong knowledge of BS standards, CIBSE guidance, Wiring Regulations, and low carbon design
- Track record in leading complex building services projects
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client management skills
- Ability to develop and mentor teams and shape technical strategy
- A commercial mindset with experience contributing to business growth
