You’ll join an established specialist equipment business supplying communications and surveillance solutions across Police, Military, Government and Industrial sectors. Based at a dedicated site close to Birmingham International railway station, you’ll work across multiple departments and have the opportunity to influence products from development through to manufacture.

What’s in it for you

- £40,000–£45,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
- Excellent benefits package.
- A varied technical workload covering new products, redesigns, fault resolution and production support.
- The opportunity to take ownership of projects from initial schematics through to PCB development and testing.
- Hands-on exposure to specialist communications and surveillance equipment used across demanding sectors.
- On-site employee parking and a location within walking distance of Birmingham International railway station.

Your responsibilities as KiCAD Hardware Design Engineer

- Create and interpret schematic diagrams, translating requirements into practical electronic solutions.
- Develop printed circuit boards, applying effective layout practices and considering EMI/EMC requirements.
- Diagnose and repair PCB faults identified during production or on equipment returned by customers.
- Research components, prototype solutions and carry out testing to support new developments and product improvements.
- Support Production, Sales, Video and Specialist Vehicle Operations teams with technical issues and product requirements.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, revisions and project records using Jira and Git.

What we’re looking for in a KiCAD Hardware Design Engineer

- Practical electronics industry experience, including fault diagnosis, schematic interpretation and identifying circuit issues.
- Working knowledge and practical experience of KiCAD PCB software – this is mandatory.
- Experience using electronic test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators and PCB rework tools.
- Ability to research component functions and select suitable modern or smaller replacement components for existing circuits.
- Soldering capability would be advantageous, alongside familiarity with Jira, Git and Microsoft 365 and Audio experience would be very helpful.

Working hours: 42.5 hours per week, 08:00–17:00, with a 30-minute break at 13:00.

If you want hands-on ownership of electronic products and the chance to solve varied technical challenges in a specialist environment, apply today for this Hardware Design Engineer position.
