Job Description

Job Title: HSE Manager

Location: Clonshaugh, Dublin, Ireland

Salary: €55,000 - €60,000

Working pattern: Predominantly site-based, with occasional flexibility for reporting or administrative work. The role will also involve ad hoc travel to the UK for team meetings, likely up to four times per year, alongside occasional travel to stores or points of delivery when required.

Are you an experienced HSE Advisor or developing HSE Manager looking for an opportunity to take ownership of health and safety within a busy operational environment?

If so, this could be the opportunity for you!

HSE Recruitment Network are recruiting for an HSE Manager on behalf of a leading logistics and distribution business. This is a key appointment with responsibility for supporting the Clonshaugh site and acting as the main HSE point of contact for Ireland, with some connection to the Northern Ireland driver hub.

The successful candidate will be joining a close-knit, supportive and non-unionised management team. Working predominantly on site, you will build strong relationships with operational teams, provide practical guidance and help develop greater ownership of health and safety across the business.

The site employs approximately 105 people and includes both ambient and chilled warehouse operations, picking, distribution and driver activity. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HSE Advisor or developing HSE Manager who is ready to operate independently and make a visible difference within a high-risk operational environment.

The role will involve occasional travel to stores or points of delivery when required to support with risk assessments, incident investigations and other operational HSE requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

- Act as the main HSE point of contact for Ireland, supporting the Clonshaugh site and maintaining some connection with the Northern Ireland driver hub.

- Build strong, positive relationships with employees, operational teams and management.

- Maintain a visible and engaging presence across the site.

- Provide practical health and safety advice and guidance across warehouse, picking, distribution and driver operations.

- Promote greater operational ownership of health and safety and encourage safe behaviours across the business.

- Complete workplace inspections, audits and reviews, ensuring that appropriate actions are identified and followed through to completion.

- Support the development, implementation and continual improvement of risk assessments, safe systems of work and relevant HSE procedures.

- Travel to stores or points of delivery when required to support with risk assessments, incident investigations and other HSE activity.

- Identify opportunities to improve standards, behaviours and overall safety performance.

- Influence and challenge stakeholders constructively where required.

- Support incident, accident and near-miss investigations, ensuring suitable corrective and preventative actions are implemented.

- Provide guidance on key operational risks, including pedestrian and vehicle interaction, manual handling, powered pallet truck use, chilled working environments and driver activity.

- Support relevant training, toolbox talks, briefings and safety communications.

- Monitor compliance with applicable legislation, company standards and internal procedures.

- Produce clear reports and provide regular updates to the management team.

- Work independently while ensuring the wider business remains informed and appropriately supported.

Essential Experience:

- Previous experience in an HSE Advisor, Health and Safety Manager or similar role.

- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification.

- Experience working within logistics, manufacturing, food and drink, automotive or another comparable high-risk environment.

- Strong understanding of operational risk management and workplace health and safety.

- Experience completing inspections, audits, risk assessments and incident investigations.

- Confidence influencing and challenging stakeholders at all levels.

- A personable, engaging and practical approach to health and safety.

- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to gain buy-in from operational teams.

- Comfortable working as a standalone HSE professional and operating with a high degree of independence.

- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to stores and points of delivery when required.

- Full right to work in Ireland is required.

Desirable Experience:

- Experience within warehousing, logistics, distribution or a driver-led operation.

- Familiarity with pedestrian and vehicle segregation, warehouse traffic management and powered pallet truck operations.

- Experience working in chilled or temperature-controlled environments.

- Experience supporting driver safety and transport-related risk management.

- Experience conducting risk assessments or incident investigations away from a primary operational site.

- Membership of IOSH or another relevant professional body.

- Additional HSE qualifications or relevant environmental experience.
