HGV2 ADR Driver


Location: Paisley, Glasgow


Pay & Hours:

  • £16.00 per hour
  • Monday to Friday
  • 45 hours per week
  • Shift lengths may vary depending on daily operational requirements
  • Temporary to permanent opportunity
  • Pay increases to £16.50 per hour upon successful permanent transfer


Manpower Scotland is currently recruiting for an experienced HGV2 ADR Driver to join a well-established waste and recycling operation based in the Paisley area. This is a great opportunity for a professional driver seeking consistent weekday work, competitive pay, and the potential for a long-term permanent position.


The Role:


You will be responsible for the safe collection and transportation of a variety of waste streams, including hazardous materials, from customer premises to recycling sites. You will also deliver waste consignments and finished company products to customer locations as required.
This role involves a mixture of rigid and curtain sider work, with varying routes and locations each day. You will typically complete 4 to 7 collections per shift, with travel distances varying depending on operational requirements.


There is a manual handling element to the role, including cage work and palletised goods.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Safe collection and delivery of waste materials and company products
  • Operating both rigid and curtain sider vehicles as required
  • Completing 4-7 collections per shift with variable travel routes
  • Ensuring waste is loaded, secured, and transported correctly at all times
  • Handling cages and palletised goods safely and efficiently
  • Carrying out daily vehicle checks and maintaining vehicle cleanliness
  • Reporting defects, incidents, and safety concerns promptly
  • Completing all documentation accurately and in a timely manner
  • Adhering to all relevant legislation including EU/WTD tachograph rules and Operator Licence requirements
  • Complying with ADR regulations when handling hazardous goods (desirable but not essential)
  • Ensuring full compliance with company policies, health & safety procedures, and site rules
  • Acting as a professional representative of the business at all times
  • Communicating effectively with customers and internal teams regarding any additional requirements or issues


Requirements:

  • Valid HGV2 ADR Driver licence (HGV2 essential, ADR desirable)
  • Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph card
  • Maximum 3 penalty points on licence
  • Strong knowledge of UK road networks and Highway Code
  • Understanding of tachograph and transport compliance regulations
  • Customer-focused approach with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Flexible and proactive attitude to meet operational needs


Desirable:

  • Experience within the waste or recycling industry
  • ADR qualification (beneficial but not essential)


Recruitment Process:

  • Driving assessment required prior to confirmation of start date
