Hospital Porter (x3) - Full Time
Location: Headington
Pay Rate: £12.92 per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 09:00 - 17:00
Contract: Temporary (Potential Temp-to-Perm Opportunity)
Duration: Initially providing sickness cover

The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for 3 Hospital Porters to join a busy healthcare environment. This is an excellent opportunity for dependable and professional individuals looking to work in a vital support role within a hospital setting.

This position is initially offered on a temporary basis to provide sickness cover, with the potential for permanent employment for the right candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transporting and escorting patients safely throughout the hospital using beds, trolleys, wheelchairs, and chairs.
  • Carrying out general portering duties across the site.
  • Delivering and relocating furniture, equipment, supplies, post, and materials.
  • Collecting, segregating, transporting, and disposing of waste and rubbish in line with site procedures.
  • Cleaning and maintaining wheelchairs and associated equipment.
  • Assisting with mechanical cleaning and other cleaning duties as required.
  • Salting and gritting car parks and external walkways during adverse weather conditions.
  • Delivering linen supplies to wards and departments when required.
  • Using a computerised helpdesk system to log and complete job requests.
  • Supporting additional operational tasks as requested by management.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with site procedures, health and safety requirements, and service standards.

Candidate Requirements

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to deal professionally and respectfully with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work.
  • Basic computer skills and confidence using electronic systems.
  • Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling duties.
  • Previous experience in a portering, healthcare, facilities, or support services role would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Willingness to work both day and night shifts if required as part of operational needs.
