Job Description

HSE Recruitment are working with an exciting forward thinking manufacturing company with a real purpose, who are looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join the team.

You will be the most senior HSE person on site, sitting on the SMT, ensuring all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) legislation are implemented and that the business complies with corporate requirements. You will have the support of a HSE Adviosr on site, a Group HSE Manager based in Europe and UK based Head of Compliance. You will drive best practice across the business and develop a strong Safety/Environmental culture.

It is a fast paced, 24/7 manufacturing operation with around 500 staff on site. Safety standards are good but there is always room for improvement. For example near miss reporting is high but there is a focus now on follow up and corrective actions. From the top there is vocal support for safety but there is work to do building up the culture and accountability.

Other responsibilities:

- Develop a HSE management system and implement initiatives that comply with local and national legislation and environmental standards.
- Drive a Health & Safety culture across the business.
- Develop and recommend policies, standards, procedures and systems to ensure procedures are in compliance to H&S and Environmental legislation and site standards.
- Ensure personal and environmental accidents and incidents are investigated, recorded and reported properly, identifying and recommending improved practices.
- Be the main point of contact for external agencies.
- Provide assistance and advice and carry out risk assessments in relation to safe systems of work, policies, ways of working etc, and ensure a robust review process is in place.
- Tracking and providing statistical KPIs and reports to relevant parties to drive improvements

What we are looking for:

- This role would suit an experienced health and safety advisor who is managing a similar sized site or a manager who wants a change.
- Fast paced manufacturing experience is essential
- NEBOSH Certificate level qualification
- Proactive, engaging and willing to challenge people
- Driven, proven track record of continuous improvement
- Good under pressure
- Good communicator - able to build relationships

Salary will be £50-55,000 + very generous holiday allowance and other perks.

If this sounds of interest, then we want to hear from you- contact Aisling Reid on 0121 454 5000 or aisling.reid@hserecruitment.co.uk
