THE COMPANY :

 

From our Northern Office in Halifax, we support a growing portfolio of commercial HVAC and combustion works, backed by an experienced help desk function and a team of approximately 10 engineers. Our business delivers planned and reactive maintenance, compliance support, and small works projects across a wide range of commercial plant and systems.

 

Due to continued growth, we are recruiting for an experienced Contracts and Small Works Manager to support the delivery of existing contracts and help drive new opportunities across the northern region.

 

Purpose of the Role

 

The Contracts and Small Works Manager will take responsibility for managing existing contracts and delivering small works projects from enquiry through to completion. The role will involve working closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and internal support teams to ensure excellent service delivery, commercial control, and client satisfaction.

 

The successful candidate will be heavily involved in:

- day-to-day contract management
- procurement of materials and subcontract services
- pricing and quotation support
- client liaison and relationship management
- negotiation and development of new contract opportunities
- delivery of small works projects up to circa £50,000

 

Typical small works may include:

- boiler replacements
- plant room upgrades
- air conditioning installations
- chiller replacements
- associated HVAC and combustion-related upgrades

 

This role is ideally suited to a candidate with a strong HVAC background, particularly in air conditioning and chillers, although candidates from a commercial gas / combustion background with suitable qualifications and technical knowledge will also be considered.

 

Key Responsibilities

- Manage a portfolio of existing contracts across the northern region.
- Oversee the day-to-day delivery of planned, reactive, and quoted works.
- Quote, plan, procure, and deliver small works projects up to approximately £50,000.
- Support the negotiation and development of new contracts and project opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and service review.
- Work closely with the Regional Manager and Northern Office team to ensure service standards are achieved.
- Provide support and direction to field-based engineers to enable effective service delivery.
- Coordinate subcontractors, specialist providers, suppliers, and internal labour resources.
- Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with Health & Safety procedures and statutory compliance obligations.
- Carry out site visits, client meetings, and progress reviews as required.
- Assist with life cycle planning, asset reviews, and identifying additional works opportunities.
- Produce reports, quotations, scopes, and management information using company procedures.
- Perform to agreed KPIs for the role.

 

Desirable Experience

- Strong HVAC bias, particularly in:
- air conditioning systems
- chiller installations or replacements
- commercial HVAC small works
- Knowledge of boiler replacements and plant room works.
- Experience working within framework contracts or national client portfolios.
