Leads by example, within a team of manufacturing operators in a world class manufacturing operation. Hands-on involvement in assembly/ manufacturing of Rapid product line, including Rapid Hit Cartridges, Primary Cartridges and Gel Cartridges within a cleanroom environment, working with DNA reagents according to SOPs, with due regard to product availability and integrity. Position may include performing quality control testing of Rapid manufactured goods. The position impacts the ability to fulfil production schedules. Decisions taken affect quality and integrity of products.
Responsibilities * Working in ISO 7 clean rooms with Tyvek gowning and personal hood PPE. Multi-stage, semi-automated assembly of Rapid Hit cartridges on a production line within a team. Operation of the CSM (Cartridge Sealing Machine) and visual inspection. Support of Gel cartridge, Primary cartridge, Newton house ladder cartridge and bead cleaning. * Submission of regular samples to QC - clear communication is essential. May be required to perform quality control testing of intermediates and finished goods. * Training and supporting new operators, with a view to signing off at a confident unsupervised competency. * Calibrates laboratory instruments and is responsible for ensuring calibration is performed on time by monitoring and updating the calibration schedule for equipment in a designated area. * Liaising with Engineering to report and resolve breakdowns in a timely fashion - commitment to minimizing production downtime. * Responsible for supporting and complying with Company safety and hazardous waste management program, including following safe hazardous waste handling and good housekeeping. Ensures and maintains clean, orderly and safe laboratory work areas. Safety equipment and special precautions are required when working in the manufacturing/laboratory areas. Required to partake in regular particle reduction cleans to maintain the ISO 7 cleanroom. Assisting with environmental monitoring of cleanrooms (swab preparation/taking). * Continuous improvement in understanding of quality and productivity concepts as they apply to all work performed, services offered, communications and products. Supporting continuous improvement activities and projects. Raising and managing PRs in Trackwise and leading/supporting investigations when problems arise. Raising and managing change orders on the OCPLM system to facilitate improvement activities and corrective actions - updating documents, creation of new SKUs etc.
Minimum Requirements/Qualification: *Experience in manufacturing in a clean production environment. Experience working with hazardous materials and an awareness of COSHH. *Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, meet targets and complete necessary paperwork to GDP standard. The employment will involve some manual handling, good manual dexterity required. Ability to work well independently and collaboratively as a team. Able to manage workload independently within scope of activities agreed with Supervisor. *Flexible approach to work with possible change of duties at short notice and willingness to learn. Possibility of shift work/overtime requirements. Ability to manage multiple priorities and to work under pressure with strict attention to deadlines and details. Excellent time management & organizational skills, Strong communication and problem-solving skills. *Requires the use of office equipment, including operating a computer terminal throughout the day and involvement in continuous improvement opportunities.
