Job Description


Material Handler
Location: Heysham
Hours: Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00

Pay: £13.20 per hour

A Material Handler is responsible for carrying out routine material handling and manufacturing support tasks in a safe and compliant production environment, following established procedures and work instructions under supervision. You will be expected to complete all relevant training within 12 months to develop competence in role requirements and support progression to Material Handler II (Band 2). Role flexibility and the ability to follow instructions accurately to meet operational timelines are essential.

Crucial Duties & Responsibilities:
*Follow schedules (work orders) and carry out tasks as instructed.
* Perform basic material handling, packing, and production support activities in line with SOPs.
* Operate assigned equipment following training and instructions (manual and automated).
* Move raw materials, components, and finished goods as directed.
* Carry out basic visual checks and report any issues or deviations immediately.
* Complete required documentation and records clearly and accurately.
* Follow all safety procedures including PPE, JSA, COSHH, and site requirements.
* Maintain a clean and organised work area in line with 5S standards.
* Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly to a Supervisor or Team Lead.
* Follow standard operating procedures and do not deviate without approval.
* Assist with picking, packing, labelling, and storage of materials.
* Assist with stock checks and report discrepancies.
* Carry out basic equipment checks as instructed.
* Work as part of a team and follow direction from Supervisors and Leads.
* Be flexible to move between tasks or departments as required.
* Participate in team activities and improvement initiatives when requested.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:
To demonstrate the following:
* Minimum GCSE, or equivalent qualification
* Basic awareness of health, safety and environmental practices
* Ability to follow procedures and work instructions accurately
* Good attention to detail and ability to complete routine tasks consistently
* Willingness to learn and develop new skills
* Basic computer skills
* Good communication and teamwork skills
* Physically able to carry out manual handling tasks
* Focus on meeting customer and operational delivery requirements
