Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Days) | West Midlands | £35,000 + Overtime Monday to Thursday | 5:00am Start 40 Hours Per Week Overtime: £20/hour | Sundays: £33.65/hour Permanent Position
The Opportunity We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established heavy engineering manufacturer operating within the casting and engineering sector. Due to ongoing investment and increased production demands, the business is looking to appoint a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team on a permanent day shift. This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable manufacturer with a strong order book, significant investment plans and a long-term commitment to engineering excellence. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving plant reliability across a busy manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities
- Diagnose and repair faults on hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems
- Maintain gearboxes, bearings, cylinders, valves, pumps and rotating equipment
- Perform welding, cutting, grinding and general fabrication work
- Support TPM and continuous improvement activities
- Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime
- Contribute to site safety, reliability and operational improvements

What We're Looking For We're interested in engineers from heavy manufacturing, foundry, steel, quarrying, aggregates, recycling, cement, process manufacturing or similar industrial environments. Ideally you'll have experience with:
- Hydraulics, valves and cylinders
- Bearings and rotating equipment
- Pneumatic systems
- Gearboxes and transmissions
- Pumps, conveyors and industrial machinery
- Welding, cutting and grinding
You'll also have:
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience in planned and reactive maintenance
- Basic electrical fault-finding knowledge
- A hands-on approach and strong commitment to safety
Experience within a foundry environment would be advantageous but is not essential. Please note: This is a heavy industrial manufacturing environment involving heat, dust, noise and large-scale production equipment.
