Part-Time Cleaner/Scout - Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, Marston
Our client, a renowned institution dedicated to the advanced study of Islam and the Muslim world, is hiring a friendly and reliable Part-Time Scout to join their Housekeeping team in Marston. This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in maintaining a clean, welcoming environment and enjoys supporting a busy, dynamic setting.
What you'll be doing: * Keeping all Centre spaces, including meeting rooms, conference halls, the mosque, and residences, clean, tidy, and well-maintained. * Setting up rooms for events, including moving furniture and preparing guest accommodations with fresh linen and amenities. * Carrying out minor maintenance tasks like unblocking sinks, changing light bulbs, and repairing furniture. * Assisting with waste management, ensuring bins are emptied and waste streams are separated correctly. * Maintaining outside areas through litter picking, sweeping, weeding, and using specialist cleaning equipment. * Cleaning carpets, soft furnishings, and hard surfaces using appropriate tools. * Sanitising areas contaminated with bodily fluids or animal matter, following health and safety protocols. * Supporting laundry duties, including washing, ironing, and making beds. * Reporting any faults or issues promptly to the Housekeeping Manager.
What you'll bring: * Experience in a housekeeping or cleaning environment. * Knowledge of COSHH and manual handling procedures. * Ability to support a small team and work efficiently with minimal supervision. * Strong organisational skills, punctuality, and the ability to prioritise tasks. * Good communication skills in English. * A customer service mindset, ensuring a positive experience for all Centre users.
Additional information: * Salary: £13,811 per annum * Hours: 20 hours per week, ideally spread across weekdays (Monday-Friday), with a preference for afternoon availability. * Benefits include 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata if part-time), a generous pension scheme, free parking (when available), and ongoing training.
