Job Description |
An established and successful company in Bicester are looking for an experienced Powder Coster or Paint Sprayer to join a growing team on a permanent basis. Your role is it to carry out surface preparation and powder coating activities to specified standards, ensuring consistent finish quality, adherence to technical specifications, and safe, efficient operation of the coating line in line with production schedules and quality requirements.
Surface Preparation & Pre-Treatment Verify components are correctly pre-treated prior to coating (wash, phosphate, chromate-free, etc.). Inspect substrates for contamination, damage, oil, or residue before spraying. Identify and escalate pre-treatment defects (e.g., smutting, poor adhesion risk). Ensure parts are correctly masked and hung to specification. Powder Application Apply powder coatings to required specification using manual or automatic spray equipment. Maintain correct gun settings (kV, µA, air pressure, flow rates). Achieve specified film thickness (measured in microns) in line with job requirements. Minimise Faraday cage issues, orange peel, back ionisation, and other finish defects. Monitor powder usage to reduce waste and maximise transfer efficiency Equipment & Housekeeping Clean and maintain spray guns, hoppers, booth and recovery systems. Conduct colour changes efficiently and in line with contamination controls. Ensure correct storage and handling of powders. Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment (5S principles). Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance Operate in accordance with COSHH, PPE and safe systems of work. Handle powders and chemicals safely. Report hazards, incidents, and equipment faults promptly. Comply with environmental controls relating to powder use and waste disposal. Production & Team Contribution Work to daily production targets and deadlines. Communicate effectively with pre-treat, loading and packing teams. Support continuous improvement initiatives. Assist with training or mentoring where required.
Two different shifts to choose from 6am - 2pm or 2pm - 10pm, salary offered is £27 - £35k depending on experience and shifts, plus bonus, 25 days holiday which increases over time. ![]() |
