Job Description

Senior Prep & Events Chef

Location: Jane Street, Edinburgh, EH6
Salary: £40,000 + £7-8k tronc + performance bonus
Schedule: 5 days per week (occasional 6th day with time back in lieu)

We're looking for a highly organised and self-sufficient Senior Chef to take the lead in a busy prep kitchen based in Jane Street, Edinburgh. The kitchen supports a well-known restaurant group within Edinburgh and delivers exceptional private events, so we need someone who thrives in both structured prep and dynamic event environments.

The Role

  • Oversee daily prep operations and ensure smooth service delivery
  • Lead and execute small, high-profile events independently
  • Manage and mentor a small team (CDP, Commis, KP)
  • Maintain exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Uphold hygiene, health & safety, and GP standards
  • Work closely with the senior head chef on menu planning and event logistics

About You

  • Extremely organised and capable of self-management
  • Confident leading small teams and working solo when required
  • Full UK driving licence (must be over 25)
  • Competent, adaptable, and calm in different kitchens and venues
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Passionate about creating outstanding food experiences

The Package

  • £40,000 base salary
  • £7-8k tronc
  • Performance bonus after 6 months (based on GP, hygiene & satisfaction metrics)
  • Support from an experienced senior head chef
  • Opportunity to cook for exclusive, high-profile events
