Job Title – Principal / Associate Electrical Engineer (Building Services)

Location: Birmingham
Type: Permanent, Full-time

Role Overview
We’re looking for a Principal or Associate Electrical Engineer to take a leading role within a growing building services team. This position suits someone who is confident operating in front of clients, comfortable influencing design and commercial decisions, and either already acting as a leader or keen to step into a leadership role.

You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical designs, leading project teams, developing client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the electrical engineering design across a range of building services projects from concept through to completion
• Act as a key client-facing contact, building trusted relationships and representing the business at meetings and presentations
• Take ownership of project delivery, programme, resourcing and technical quality
• Design and oversee electrical systems including LV power, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, security, data and specialist systems
• Review and approve drawings, calculations, reports and specifications produced by the team
• Coordinate electrical design with mechanical, public health, architectural and structural disciplines
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and technicians
• Support and contribute to business development activity, including proposals, fee bids and client engagement
• Identify opportunities to grow existing client relationships and develop new ones
• Provide technical input during construction stages and respond to site and contractor queries

Experience & Skills
• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
• Extensive experience delivering electrical building services design at Senior, Principal or Associate level
• Strong understanding of UK building regulations, BS standards and CIBSE guidance
• Proven ability to lead projects and manage design teams
• Confident communicator with experience in client-facing roles
• Interest in or experience with business development, work winning and team growth
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, with experience in IES or similar software advantageous
• Chartered Engineer or working toward chartership (CIBSE / IET) preferred
