Construction Project Manager Location: Wallingford, Oxfordshire Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum Employment Type: Permanent Hours: Full time, 45 hours per week Start Date: February 2026 The Opportunity An established Tier One civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to deliver multiple projects within the water sector. The Role The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple clean and foul water projects, ensuring works are completed safely, to programme, within budget and to the required quality standards. You will work closely with estimating, engineering and commercial teams to drive performance and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities General Management • Deliver projects from design stage through to completion and handover • Produce financial forecasts, monitor costs and provide monthly performance reports • Chair weekly site meetings and ensure accurate records are maintained • Manage construction programmes and resource planning • Review work packages and ensure scope clarity • Develop buildable, cost effective engineering solutions • Maintain commercial tension and manage change control • Prepare estimates for additional works and support tendering activity • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain Health, Safety and Environment • Lead by example on health, safety and environmental standards • Ensure full compliance with company procedures and legal requirements • Maintain and update all HSE documentation • Allocate HSE responsibilities and provide training where required • Ensure subcontractor compliance with site procedures • Manage site waste and environmental risk assessments • Liaise with third parties to ensure compliance with industry regulations • Deliver toolbox talks, briefings and safety forums Quality • Manage and sign off Inspection and Test Plans • Ensure QA documentation is produced and maintained • Close out technical queries efficiently • Ensure as built drawings and O&M manuals are completed and submitted About You Essential • Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent • Proven experience delivering clean and foul water projects • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts, including Early Warnings and Compensation Events • Good working knowledge of CDM regulations, programme and risk management and cost control • Experience using Primavera P6 or similar planning software • CSCS Manager card • SMSTS • NEBOSH Construction Certificate • Excellent communication and leadership skills • Ability to manage projects with minimal supervision and drive them to completion Desirable • Chartered status, CEng MICE • Knowledge of JCT contracts What’s on Offer • Long term, secure workload on major infrastructure frameworks • Competitive salary up to £75,000 • Strong internal career progression • Supportive, people focused culture • Exposure to large scale, technically challenging projects |
