Devon
Construction
An established and highly regarded main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to join its growing team and take the lead on the delivery of significant construction schemes in Devon. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager who enjoys taking ownership of projects, leading teams and working closely with clients and supply chain partners to deliver high-quality schemes safely, efficiently and commercially.

The Opportunity
As Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the delivery of projects from the current stage of construction through to completion, overseeing programme, quality, health and safety, commercial performance and client relationships. You will work closely with established site teams, design consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders, providing clear direction and ensuring projects remain on programme and within budget. The role will suit a confident Project Manager with a strong main contracting background who is comfortable managing complex projects and enjoys being closely involved in all aspects of delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Take overall responsibility for the delivery of projects from construction through to completion and handover.
- Lead and motivate project and site teams, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
- Manage programme, progress, quality, health and safety and project performance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
- Oversee procurement and subcontractor performance, ensuring works are delivered to the required standards.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts and commercial performance alongside the commercial team.
- Identify and manage project risks, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Chair and contribute to regular project and progress meetings.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, construction standards and relevant legislation.
- Drive continuous improvement and promote a positive culture of safety, quality and collaboration.
- Support completion, commissioning and handover of projects.

You will have:

- Experience managing projects valued at £20m+.
- A strong understanding of the construction process from pre-construction through to completion.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project financial controls.
- Good knowledge of construction programmes, procurement and subcontractor management.
- The ability to build effective relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- A relevant construction qualification such as a Degree, HNC or HND.
- Current SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid at Work.

What's on Offer?

- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Opportunity to take ownership of significant Devon-based schemes.
- Long-term career opportunities with an established main contractor.
- Supportive and collaborative working environment.
- Excellent opportunity for professional development and progression.

If you're an experienced Project Manager looking for your next opportunity with a respected main contractor, I’d be keen to speak with you.
