Job Description

Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Specialist School, Birmingham
Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain practical experience supporting children with special educational needs? A specialist school in Birmingham is looking to appoint a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring educational psychologist, clinical psychologist, or SEN teacher to develop invaluable experience working with pupils who require additional support to achieve their full potential.

*** Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** £90 - £100 per day
*** September 2026 – July 2027
*** Specialist School – Birmingham
*** 1-2-1 support, small group interventions & classroom assistance

The Role
As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the SEND team to support pupils with a range of additional learning needs. You will provide tailored 1-2-1 support, lead small group intervention sessions, and assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons that meet the needs of every learner. Your role will focus on helping pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally, while encouraging independence and confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

The Candidate
This opportunity is ideal for a Psychology graduate who is considering a career in educational psychology, clinical psychology, speech and language therapy, or special educational needs teaching. You should be patient, empathetic, and able to build positive relationships with children who require additional support. Strong communication skills, resilience, and a genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people are essential. Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is advantageous but not essential.

The School
This specialist Birmingham school has an excellent reputation for the quality of education and care it provides for pupils with additional learning needs. The school offers outstanding specialist facilities, highly experienced teaching and support staff, and a collaborative environment where every member of the team is committed to helping pupils succeed. Graduates benefit from ongoing mentoring, specialist training, and the opportunity to gain a wealth of experience working alongside skilled SEND professionals, making this an ideal foundation for a future career in education or psychology.

Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
