We're recruiting on behalf of a leading foundry and heavy engineering manufacturer in the Black Country that is undergoing an exciting period of growth. Following significant investment in new equipment, automation technology, and increased production capacity, the business has expanded to its largest workforce to date and continues to strengthen its position within the UK manufacturing sector. With a strong pipeline of work, modern facilities, and long-term growth plans, this is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking employer that values skill, commitment, and career development.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced QHSE Manager to lead Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental activities across two manufacturing sites.
Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will play a pivotal role in driving quality improvement, regulatory compliance, workplace safety, and environmental performance. Working closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams, you will champion a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring products, processes and people consistently meet the highest standards.
This is a strategic leadership role for someone who can influence change, drive operational improvements, and support the continued growth of a successful manufacturing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the company's Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, variability and waste.
  • Lead risk assessments, audits, investigations and corrective action programmes.
  • Manage and develop Quality Engineers and Technicians.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering and Technical teams to resolve quality and process issues.
  • Monitor quality, safety and environmental performance through KPI reporting and analysis.
  • Support customer audits, supplier audits and external accreditation activities.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes that promote a strong culture of safety and compliance.
  • Lead root cause analysis activities and implement effective preventative measures.
  • Analyse quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support sustainability, energy efficiency and environmental improvement initiatives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for QHSE-related matters across the business.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a QHSE Manager, Quality Manager, HSE Manager or similar leadership position.
  • Strong background within foundry, castings, heavy engineering, manufacturing, or metals processing environments.
  • Excellent understanding of quality systems, health and safety legislation, and environmental compliance.
  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments and root cause investigations.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and quality tools.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable working across multiple departments and manufacturing operations.

Desirable Qualifications & Skills

  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Qualified Internal or Lead Auditor.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience using data analysis tools such as Excel or Minitab.

What's on Offer?

  • £45,000 - £50,000 salary depending on experience.
  • Senior leadership role with dual-site responsibility.
  • Opportunity to influence quality, safety and environmental performance across the business.
  • Join a growing manufacturer investing heavily in technology, facilities and people.
  • Long-term career prospects within a successful engineering organisation.
