Job Description

Sales Estimator
Plymouth

I’m working with a growing construction and building maintenance business that is actively recruiting for an experienced Sales Estimator. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional with a background in general building, pricing, sales, or negotiation, who is eager to develop or strengthen their estimating skills.

The Estimating role involves managing projects up to £2 million in value and working closely with clients, consultants, and suppliers to deliver accurate, competitive, and well-structured bids. While experience in building maintenance or commercial construction is preferred, the right candidate with strong numeracy, sales acumen, and the ability to learn estimating processes will be considered.

Key Responsibilities;

- Liaise with clients, consultants, quantity surveyors, and subcontractors
- Actively monitor tender portals and identify relevant opportunities
- Review and evaluate tender enquiries for completeness and accuracy
- Coordinate tender documentation and correspondence across the supply chain
- Organise and attend site visits with suppliers and subcontractors
- Obtain pricing and prepare complete, timely submissions
- Assess project costs and business risk, ensuring bids meet client specifications
- Maintain relationships with key accounts and follow up submitted quotations
- Provide detailed handover information to the operations team for successful bids
- Monitor project delivery to ensure costs align with forecasts, client care is maintained, and communications with the operations team are effective

 Skills & Experience;

- Experience in commercial construction, building maintenance, or similar fields
- Understanding of project management, planning, or scheduling
- Prior experience in managing bids/projects up to £2 million
- Proven experience preparing tenders and quotations
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills, with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and other standard business applications
- Full driving licence; enhanced DBS check required

Why This Role:
This is a hands-on, commercially focused role with real opportunities to influence the success of the business. The team values proactive, customer-focused individuals who are keen to develop their estimating and sales skills within a supportive and professional environment.

Should you wish to discuss, please contact Nicky Harris, RGB Recruitment Exeter.
