Complex Needs Support Assistant – Fareham Area Primary School

Location: Village school on the outskirts of Fareham

Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (with potential to become permanent) Pay: £82 – £90 per day

Start Date: December 2025

A well-regarded, Ofsted-rated “Good” primary school near Fareham is seeking a dedicated Support Assistant to work with children who have complex needs. This is a full-time role starting in September, with the potential to become permanent.

About the School:

 Located in a village setting just outside Fareham, the school has a strong community feel and is known for its calm, inclusive environment. Pupils are well-behaved, happy, and take pride in their learning. Staff work closely together to support every child and maintain a positive school culture.

The Role:

 This role involves supporting pupils with complex needs, including those with ASC, ADHD, SEMH and other learning or developmental challenges. You’ll work both one-to-one and within the classroom, helping children access learning and supporting the wider class environment. Collaboration with teachers and other support staff is key.

What We’re Looking For We’re keen to hear from candidates who:

  • Have experience supporting children with complex needs
  • Are confident working within a classroom setting
  • Can work effectively as part of a team
  • Are patient, adaptable and responsive to individual pupil needs
  • Hold a relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2 – desirable but not essential)

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with complex needs
  • Assist with classroom routines and learning activities
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement
  • Support small group work and individual interventions
  • Work closely with teaching staff and contribute to wider school life
