Job Description

Senior Solutions Architect

A Leading Investment Management Business are looking to hire an experienced Senior Solutions Architect, who ideally holds a wide-ranging background within a very similar corporation.

The background suited best for the role would be someone with Financial, Savings and Investment products exposure. As well as solutions/system concepts around Cloud Architecture (AWS), Cloud Integration and API.

Knowledge of pensions or working within a Pensions environment would be beneficial.

Purpose of the Role

As a Solution Architect supporting the Retail and Distribution businesses, you will play a key role working with senior business leaders, Product Owners and Technology teams within the business on a number of programs, to facilitate and lead the definition of viable Technology platforms and solutions. You will have a particular alignment to the firm's Workplace Investing business portfolio.

Working alongside the business proposition and the Technology product teams and utilising your experience of working with Financial Services technologies, modular service design and cloud architectures, you will need to design, define and deliver the end to end technology solution to service an increasingly global business proposition.

You will be required to effectively influence and assist key stakeholders, support multiple change initiatives and oversee and drive communication streams within and across change programmes.

This role will face off to senior stakeholder in the organisation so the successful candidate will therefore be personable, articulate and have strong facilitation skills to help take initiatives forward.

Key Responsibilities

* Accountable for the end-to-end solutions delivered by the programme and product teams initiated within your allocated change programs.
* Support the definition and maintenance of the architectural roadmap for the Workplace Investing Portfolio, ensuring continued scalability, global reuse and alignment to evolving enterprise standards, setting out key targets and delivery elements as necessary.
* Working in an agile delivery environment, define the principles, overall design and solution roadmap in conjunction with the Technology Programme Director, Business Leads and Product owners.
* Work closely with the product delivery teams to define the overall solution, ensure alignment across the Retail and Distribution portfolio and provide senior advice and guidance on approach and direction.
* Define and agree non-functional requirements ensuring quality from the outset and solution suitability
* Work closely with the product & feature delivery teams to ensure that the agreed solutions are delivered, meeting both functional and non-functional requirements.

Experience and Qualifications Required
* Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to engage and lead high performance teams, and collaborate effectively with other IT teams;
* Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to influence other leaders in both IT and business units and constructively manage conflict to positive outcomes for all parties;
* Strong situational analysis skills combined with the ability to understand and communicate abstract concepts and ideas;
* Flexible and positive attitude, openness to change;
* Experience working with teams located in different geographies and time-zones - the role is on a global scale
* Experience of working with Agile, DevOps and Lean delivery teams and methodologies

Business Skills
* Proven experience in stakeholder and risk management.
* Strong experience of building solutions for the Financial Services sector
* Experience in delivering global solutions and platforms
* Appreciation and insight of new technology trends and FinTech offerings

Technical skills
* Demonstrated expertise as an IT architect with knowledge of architecture principles, IT industry standards, system integration approaches, service design, solution modelling, building block design, systems behaviour analysis, architecture views and trade-offs
* Experience in modular/micro service design and integration patterns
* Exposure to PaaS, cloud architectures
* Ability to work across data architectures - traditional, noSQL and newSQL.
* Strong familiarity with IT and system development concepts and techniques inclusive of Cloud, Micro services, API Centric Architecture, application development methodologies / tools, programming languages, information management, transaction management, user interface design / styles, international operations and configuration management methodologies and tools
