Job Description |
| Site Engineer Devon Construction A well-established and highly regarded main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Site Engineer to support its growing portfolio of live construction projects across the South West. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take on a technical and quality-focused engineering role, providing support across live projects and playing a key part in ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design criteria, specifications and client requirements. Working closely with project and operational teams, you’ll provide technical engineering support across the construction process, with responsibility for areas including temporary works, quality assurance and quality control, technical compliance and engineering coordination. Importantly, this is not a traditional setting-out focused Site Engineer position. The contractor is looking for someone who is comfortable with the practical engineering aspects of site delivery, including checking levels, lines and dimensions, but who can also bring broader engineering knowledge, technical judgement and quality experience to the role. Projects are typically delivered across sectors including Education, Healthcare, Industrial, Commercial and Leisure, with values generally up to £20m. Experience working on complex schemes, particularly those involving live services or challenging site conditions, would be highly relevant. The Role - Provide technical engineering support across live construction projects. - Manage and coordinate temporary works requirements. - Ensure works are delivered in accordance with design criteria, specifications and client requirements. - Carry out quality assurance and quality control inspections and checks. - Manage ITPs, inspections, testing and associated quality documentation. - Identify, record and manage non-conformances through to resolution. - Support subcontractors and site teams with technical queries and engineering issues. - Work closely with designers and consultants to resolve technical queries and design issues. - Interpret drawings, specifications and technical information and communicate requirements effectively to site teams. - Support wider project and pre-construction activities where required. About You We’re looking for an experienced Site Engineer with a strong technical background and experience working on complex construction or infrastructure projects, where quality, compliance and engineering judgement are key. You’ll have: - Previous experience working on complex construction or infrastructure projects. - Experience with temporary works, quality assurance and technical compliance. - The ability to accurately check levels, lines, dimensions and positions on site in accordance with drawings and specifications. - Experience using relevant surveying and setting-out equipment. - Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and translate design information into practical site requirements. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with site teams, subcontractors, designers and other project stakeholders. - Relevant construction-related qualifications required. - A full UK driving licence. The Opportunity This is a great opportunity to join an established contractor where you can utilise your technical engineering knowledge beyond traditional setting-out duties, working across quality, temporary works, technical compliance and wider project delivery. If you’re an experienced Site Engineer looking for a role that offers greater technical involvement and responsibility, we’d be keen to hear from you.
