Sous Chef – Educational / Healthcare Catering

Pay Rate: £16–£19 per hour

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Sous Chef to join a busy catering operation based within a private healthcare setting in Hemel Hempstead. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands on chef to support the day to day running of a high volume kitchen, delivering fresh, nutritious meals across multiple service points.

You will be instrumental in leading the kitchen team, maintaining high standards, and ensuring smooth and efficient daily service.

Please note: An enhanced DBS check is required due to the nature of the environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present fresh, high quality meals
• Support the daily running of a fast paced kitchen operation
• Lead and motivate the kitchen team across multiple food concepts
• Ensure full compliance with Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations
• Complete accurate documentation and kitchen records
• Assist with stock control, ordering, and budgeting
• Maintain excellent standards of service, food presentation, and efficiency

About You

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef
• Strong leadership and team management ability
• Passion for fresh, nutritious food
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• A proactive and adaptable approach in a fast-paced environment
• Strong understanding of food safety and compliance standards
