Sous Chef – School / Healthcare Setting (Enhanced DBS Required)

Location: North London
Pay: £19 per hour
Hours: Flexible, Monday to Friday

The Role

As a Sous Chef, you will play a key role in supporting the Head Chef in delivering safe, healthy, and delicious meals for students or residents. You’ll help lead the kitchen team while maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene and organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Head Chef with daily food preparation and service
• Ensure all meals meet dietary, nutritional, and allergen requirements
• Maintain high hygiene standards across the kitchen
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering
• Train and support kitchen assistants/porters
• Oversee cleaning schedules and ensure compliance with food safety regulations
• Step up to run the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence

What You Need to Work With Us

To join us in a school or healthcare kitchen, you will need:

• Enhanced DBS Certificate (Child Workforce) – essential
• Right to Work in the UK
• At least 6 months’ experience as a Sous Chef or Chef de Partie in a fast paced kitchen
• Two employment references
• Food Hygiene & Safety Certificates (must include Level 2 or above)
• Strong understanding of allergen management
• Excellent timekeeping and leadership skills
