£45,000–£55,000 + Package | Forward-Thinking Consultancy | Flexible Working

Are you an experienced Structural Engineer looking to take the next step in your career within a highly regarded, design-led consultancy? This established practice in Cardiff has built a strong reputation for delivering well-engineered, creative solutions across the South West and South Wales. With an impressive project pipeline and a collaborative, modern working culture, this is an excellent opportunity for an engineer seeking progression and long-term career development.

About the Role
As a Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality building structure projects for a wide range of clients. This consultancy consistently “punches above its weight,” securing complex and prestigious schemes across both public and private sectors. You will join a supportive team environment where progression into senior management is encouraged.

Typical Responsibilities Include:

- Undertaking detailed design and structural analysis across a variety of building types within the property sector.
- Leading projects and overseeing the work of a dedicated design team.
- Providing guidance, mentoring, and technical direction to junior engineers and technicians.
- Regular communication with architects, contractors, and wider project stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Liaising directly with clients and responding swiftly to technical queries.
- Attending site visits and meetings, contributing to technical reports and design reviews.
- Taking on increasing responsibility as you move toward higher-level management roles within the business.

Key Projects You’ll Be Involved In
The Cardiff office is currently engaged in a wide range of exciting and challenging developments, including:

- RC-framed multi-storey buildings up to 35 floors (hotels, residential, student accommodation)
- National out-of-town retail developments across the UK
- Custodial facilities and secure government-led projects
- Commercial and mixed-use developments
- Major hospital builds and extension programmes.

These diverse schemes provide strong technical variety and the chance to work on high-profile structural engineering challenges.

What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

- A degree (or equivalent) in civil or structural engineering.
- Chartered status with ICE or IStructE or actively working toward it.
- Proven experience in building structures within a consultancy environment.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software such as Tekla, Autodesk, and other analysis tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
- A strong understanding of the design and construction process from concept stage through to site delivery.

Why Join This Consultancy?
You’ll be joining a well-known, locally respected business with a modern approach to work-life balance. Their flexible working policy actively supports home working and autonomy over your working week. You’ll also benefit from:

- Contemporary, well-equipped offices
- A friendly, close-knit team environment
- Free parking
- A clear route for progression into senior management

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated engineer to take ownership of exciting projects while developing their leadership and technical capabilities.
