Job Responsibilities- Operate tanker vehicles safely and efficiently in line with all relevant UK regulations and company procedures.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Ensure correct loading, securement, and unloading procedures are followed to prevent contamination and spillage.
- Maintain accurate records, including tachograph compliance and delivery documentation.
- Plan routes effectively and manage driving hours in accordance with legal requirements.
- Communicate professionally with transport office staff and customers regarding delivery times and any changes.
- Adhere to all health and safety requirements, including safe working practices around hazardous materials (where applicable).
- Report incidents, near misses, and accidents immediately in line with company policy.
- Keep the vehicle clean and roadworthy, ensuring compliance with company standards at all times.
Required Skills & Qualifications- Valid HGV Class 1 or Class 2 entitlement (as required for the tanker operation).
- Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
- Valid digital tachograph card.
- Experience driving tanker vehicles (or demonstrable experience with similar bulk liquid/chemical logistics work).
- Strong knowledge of UK road transport legislation, including drivers' hours and tachograph rules.
- Ability to complete vehicle checks and maintain accurate paperwork with attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with customers and the transport team.
- Commitment to safety, including safe handling practices and risk awareness.
- ADR qualification (where required for the specific tanker loads) or willingness to obtain/maintain it in line with operational needs.
- Technical competence with vehicle systems and basic fault reporting to ensure minimal downtime.
